Weekend Update

We had a very boring and uneventful weekend - but oh well - I still felt like linking up to do a Weekend Update!

My in-laws were coming to visit us for the weekend. So, Friday we were both off work around 1 p.m. so we met for lunch SANS baby and had some (okay, just one) of these. There is nothing better than a make/choose your own bloody mary bar. And the more food that's a part of it, the better! I don't even need an appetizer!
Saturday we ended up at dinner and I (for some strange reason) needed to imbibe in TWO of these. (I always include the sippy cup in the photo so you know I might be a drunk mom but at least my child is hydrated)
I don't enjoy the taste of piss beer so I offered my beer chaser to Ali.
She was none too thrilled.

By Sunday morning I was ready to tear out my own hair have a nice relaxing day at home after the in-laws hit the road. But our friends/neighbors invited us over for a BBQ so we busted out the wine and joined them. We ate some steak, too.

I bought these lovely hydrangeas on Friday after work and by Sunday morning they were completely wilted and sad - much like my weekend. Hahaha. Cheers to the next one!

Not so much impressed with 2010 so far...

I really want 2010 to be a fantastic year in our lives but so far it hasn't exactly started that way.

Late in 2009, my grandpa was diagnosed with lung cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. He and my grandma spend their winters in Texas so when their trip was delayed for testing at the Mayo clinic, I knew they were not happy! Luckily, he is able to undergo treatment in Texas where they can enjoy the weather - at least.

Then in January, Brad's grandma on his mom's side died suddenly in her sleep. It was VERY hard for his entire family. She had SUCH a personality and is so missed!

This past week Brad's grandfather on his dad's side was taken to the hospital after he was confused about where he was, started speaking in German and couldn't get his body to move when he wanted to get up. Turns out he has a cancerous mass on his brain that is too big for surgery. We are heading out of town to go see him and the rest of Brad's family tomorrow. We aren't sure what the options are for him.

So, it's been a hard year so far. Live life to the fullest!

Christmas 2009

We went up to Brad's hometown on Wednesday night hoping to miss a huge snow storm that was about to hit. The storm started getting really bad as we got closer to his parent's house and we were very lucky that we only had to drive in it for about 30 minutes. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with his side of the family.
Then we came home to this! We had about a foot of snow in our driveway. Brad shoveled the entire thing because the snow was so wet and heavy! My contributions would have been useless!
Then we hosted my family's Christmas on Saturday. It was the first time my parents, brother and his family, aunt and grandparents saw our new house. And it was our first time entertaining! We had to go to Trader Joe's to stock up on wine now that we have TWO wine racks!
