Here is our crib and changing table - the Davinci Porter in white. I originally wanted a crib/changing table that were connected together and in cherry wood. But my idea was vetoed (for good reason) and we went with this. I didn't want to get something standard that everyone else has (AKA that you can buy at Target) but it had good reviews so I said what the hay...

I can't say enough about ordering from CSN baby. I found a code for 10 percent off and shipping was free but our original order said it would take about 4 weeks to process and ship. It actually shipped earlier this week and they upgraded our shipping for free so we'd have it before the weekend. Brad is upstairs putting it together right now! I think he was mad because he thought he had a nice relaxing weekend ahead of him! Haha! Well, it has to get put together sometime.

Our bedding is "Penelope" from Pottery Barn kids and we'll do some other cute accents with a bird theme. I didn't want the room to be too "themey" or too pink. Am I smoking crack??

We'll do this wall decal over the crib. Our walls are a bit of a darker tan and we'll leave them that way. Hopefully it looks good! I guess the decal comes in individual pieces so it will be SUPER fun to put them all up!

I LOVE these prints from Etsy. I'll do this on the opposite wall above the changing table along with one or two white wall shelves and one of those birdhouses from PB. Probably the light pink one since PB's white is not actually white but cream.

My wish for a new closet

I'm pretty much banking on the fact that if I WANT something bad enough, the money parachute will drop down on my house sometime soon and I can turn one of our bedrooms into my dream closet! Brad and I have talked about it and he even got excited about it one day and mentioned the possibility of knocking out the wall in our current walk-in closet to open up to a bedroom that could be turned into a closet. Who knows if that would even be possible but... I need this in my life one way or another!

Landscaping aka Hell Week

How much do we regret not purchasing a landscaping package with our house? Oh yeah, these geniuses decided they could save a bunch of pesos and do it themselves! And lose their marbles in the process...

Okay, it hasn't been that bad. But the sod cutter broke after 40 minutes of using it. And the rental place was closed until the next day. The dirt underneath was TERRIBLE, full of rocks, concrete and just about anything else you can imagine. I think my husband thought we had nice black dirt under there. Not so much. We still have a lot to do but here are a few pictures of the progress. Next up? Building our deck! Cue the margaritas...

Pimp my house

Oh, how I wish a show like this existed. I would even let Xhibit come into my house and pimp it at this point!

It was easy to get by the first couple of months without decorating a whole lot. We got a Christmas tree and plenty of Christmas decorations right away when we moved in. We even put lights on the outside of our house, obviously a first for us! Now all those decorations have been put away, as have our beloved Vikings decorations.

We got a new chocolate brown sectional that has been arriving piece by piece (another nightmare in and of itself) and I am feeling totally stuck when it comes to decorating. I think I want to do a light blue/grey and chocolate brown theme. We did get some pretty slate tables and bakers rack that I love. I just wish I could pay someone to come in and pick out all of the other little things we need! Okay, well, I know I could pay someone but I don't exactly have an extra $10k to spare! Here are a couple of things I am looking at for inspiration right now.

Walkin in a winter wonderland...

We are finally in the Meyer Manor. We moved in the day before Thanksgiving. Then I started a new job on Monday, Nov. 30. Hence the lack of blogging. Now, all of a sudden, it's almost Christmas!

When we decided to build, I thought I'd be able to update this blog a few times a week with the house progress. Well, things moved SO quickly. Once I fell behind, it seemed impossible to catch up. Posting pictures on Facebook was about all I could do.

Now I hope to be able to update this blog more often as we get settled, decorate and begin this new phase in our lives!

Lock it in! + House Hunters?

We're hoping we will be able to lock in our interest rate this Friday (60 days before closing)! The FHA rate is at 5 percent right now so we really hope we can lock in at that rate!

The 60 day countdown is also very exciting for us! Those days will go by so fast!

On another note, I've been very lazy about contacting the House Hunters producer to follow up about being on the show. I spoke to her a couple of months ago but she asked me to contact her again when we had our closing date. I guess if we want to be on it, I better get crackin'! Oh, imagine how I would decide what outfits to wear! LOL :)

Whew!

Just a little update. Our closing date was moved up a bit to Nov. 25, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving! That date would be fine with us because then we would have that nice long weekend to move. We have a lot to be thankful for this year!

Update + Ugh = Drama

The good news is that construction is moving along and we're pretty happy with the progress thus far. The weather in Minnesota has been very nice recently, which is good for us because storms or rain could cause a delay right now.

Which brings me to our first dealings in drama. We knew building our very first house wouldn't be without drama but we were hopeful that our "too good to be true" scenario would hold up. So, this entire time we've had a projected closing date of Nov. 20 or Nov. 23. Either of those dates would be perfect as we could just extend our Thanksgiving vacation days to move.

Well, now the projected closing date is Nov. 30! The LAST day to get the $8,000 tax credit! So, now I am very worried that the closing won't happen on that date. And really, what is the difference if we close on Nov. 23? It's not like anyone's going to be out there working on the house over the Thanksgiving holiday! Well, it's not all ironed out yet but I am not happy. :(

Can you dig it?

Well, I couldn't be any worse at updating this so I'll try to catch up. We didn't even get to think twice about doing some kind of home blessing because before we knew it, they were out their digging the hole. We didn't know until it was already happening but that's okay. We'd rather have things move along quickly! Our sales person was nice enough to take a few photos for us on Aug. 11 when the dig took place. Woo hoo! It's all starting to feel actually REAL!
