Social Sunday

Sunday Social

Well, I am badly in need of a tropical vacation so I love this week's Social Sunday questions!

Best trip you've ever been on? I don't know how I choose just ONE but I guess I would have to say when we went to Acapulco for about 10 days 2 months before our wedding. I would say it was our pre-honeymoon but we were there with the in-laws so I don't think that qualifies!

We spent the first few days at a hotel right on the ocean. I LOVED falling asleep to the sound of the crashing waves! Then we spent a week at the timeshare report that my in-laws own timeshare in. The resorts are absolutely beautiful! Here was the view from our room:
On one of the first days there we met a family from New York and became fast friends with them! We played beer bong in their room every night. No idea how we weren't kicked out for being so loud. And who plays beer pong in an immaculate living room with marble floors, etc.
We had an amazing lobster dinner and even went out to a club for "ladies night" (every night is ladies night). It was a great way to de-stress BEFORE the wedding!

Oh and yes, every night I make us take pictures on the patio! I do this on ALL vacations. Mostly for me to remember my outfit! :)

Best idea for a girls weekend trip? I would probably vote for somewhere in wine country or a relaxing spa resort in CA! I would say Vegas but the smell of smoke gives me the worst headache ever so I will probably NEVER go to Vegas!

Best idea for a couples trip? Well, anywhere tropical fits the bill for me! We had so much fun going to an all-inclusive in Cabo with 2 other couples.

Best vacation on the cheap? We are spoiled with the fact that my in-law have timeshare just about everywhere! If we go on our own vacation, I love being able to find a deal on Groupon or other discount websites... For our trip to Cabo, we stayed at a place that was just opening after a huge renovation so it was really cheap!

Place you most want to visit: I want to go to Bora Bora after seeing it on RHOC! Hahaha! But then I looked it up and the flight was SO long. So, I will say Hawaii or the Virgin Islands! Yes please!

Vacation necessities: I'm not the person to ask about this! I bring anything and everything on vacation. We ALWAYS have to move stuff out of my bag to make the 50 pound limit. Haha! And if I am lucky, I get extra room in Brad's suitcase and if his family is with us, I take up about half of his little brother's bag, too. I just can't help it...

Friday iFun dump - Stay Cation Edition

  1. We had our own little stay cation from Friday through the Fourth of July! It began with fun times at the pool. It's right across the street from us. So awesome!
  2. Went to happy hour with a friend who moved to Florida a while back. It was STUPID hot on the rooftop so we ended up having one drink, splitting a sushi roll and going inside. But then I was like -- wait a second, she lives in Florida now, isn't every day like this?
  3. Last Tuesday we took Alison to the doctor and found out she had hand, foot and mouth disease. Whatever that is. When I came home from work on Thursday, the kids at daycare had mailed us these little Get Well Soon cards. They were SO cute! I love the one from her actual daycare provider friend that says I love you and I miss you!
  4. Melancholy baby in the highchair.
  5. Alison was on the upswing so we still went on our planned date night on Friday. Had a great dinner and went to see the movie Ted. It was actually very funny.
  6. Trouble now pulls herself up on everything she can find!
  7. Eating her Get Well Soon cards.
  8. Bucket head.
  9. Couch potato.
  10. Little miss now knows how to wave!
  11. Having fun in her rocking chair.
  12. Had our BFFs over for a BBQ on Saturday night. Alison loves her daddy's tablet!
  13. Kisses at the pool.
  14. She's been taking 45 minute morning naps and loves to sit up and chat with herself! Somebody shoot me.

Now I like salt but...

... not when my black car looks grey and all of my boots are ruined!

This is the time of year when both my mind and body decide they are DONE with winter. Gone are the feelings of excitement over new, cozy sweaters, cute jeans and even cuter suede boots. My sweaters are pilling and my suede boots are ruined from salt. (I prefer salt in the form of salt and vinegar Pop chips!) My tan is gone as is most of my will to live. For the next 2 months, the only thing that will get me through is dreaming of being on the beach in Cabo.

Here's a start of what I'll need to bring...

Cabo... Finally!

So, we finally booked a trip to Cabo! I wanted to go this past Christmas but it just didn't work out... Chalk it up to quitting my job for a new one and moving into a new house in the same WEEK in late November!

We were stoked when the resort that Brad's parents have timeshare at (The Grand Mayan) built a resort in Cabo. We were looking for a good deal on airfare and all of a sudden I found a flight for $303! All of the other flights earlier or later in the year were at least $450. We thought it'd be a done deal until Brad's dad called to book it for us and the resort was booked up through next June. Of course, all of the timeshare spots were filled. You can still go on Orbitz right now and pay $$$ and book... So, whatever. We'll be staying at the new Barcelo Los Cabos.

I'm not huge on all inclusives (pretty bad experience in Jamaica last year) but I know that was a resort that we did not choose, and I wouldn't have chosen it on my own. This place has pretty good reviews so far on Trip Advisor so we'll give it a whirl. Plus, I can suck down all I want of those fruity drinks on the beach so... BRING IT ON! (onto my next post about working out and motivation!)

Our little anniversary trip

For our first wedding anniversary we headed up to Breezy Point for the weekend. Of course, it was the first weekend in June so you never know what kind of weather you'll get in Minnesota.

Last year on our wedding day it was sunny and 80 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. This year, it was about 50 degrees, rainy and freezing cold! I mistakenly brought my bikinis, tanning oil and beach bag. Did not so much need those. We spent most of our time in the indoor pool and hot tub instead.

In our room...

Hot tub!

On Saturday night we celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Norway Ridge. The food was SO good. And we popped the bottle of Dom that our usher gave us as a wedding gift. It was amazing. I didn't think it would taste that different than any other champagne but it definitley did! Cheers to one year for us!
