Sunday Social

Sunday Social

What is your dream job? I would have to say something that encompasses shopping, eating and celebrity gossip! Haha! I always thought being an E! News reporter would be so much fun or writing for Us Weekly. (Yes, I am keeping it classy and very sophisticated).

If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time? Oh a girl can dream! I would travel a lot and spend time giving back to others. I can think of a ton of charities that I would donate to or start my own. And go to a lot of football games!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A marine biologist! I LOVED the movie Free Willy.

What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field? Do a good job of listening -- instead of always thinking of what you're going to say -- and be the person who does what they say they are going to do. It will set you apart from the rest. Find a mentor who will help you along, too.

What are your biggest pet peeves in life, blogging or at work? In life? Probably people who expect everything to be handed to them and they don't have to work for it. So, entitlement I guess. Blogging? People who post controversial or vague things as bait for more clicks to their blog. At work? Uhh... lots of things but probably people who don't follow through on their responsibilities.

What are your biggest fears? Death! Something happening to someone I love. Spiders... And prohibition.

Friday (aka Saturday) iPhone dump - Vaca Edition

  1. Watermelon baby. I love that it always looks like she's taking a selfie but really she's trying to grab the phone out of my hand.
  2. A selfie of mama and Ali.
  3. He refuses to take a decent picture with me.
  4. Probably 3 deep into pomegranate margaritas.
  5. Another selfie (symptom of daddy never having patience to take pics).
  6. Looks so sad in her stroller.
  7. Getting very bold with standing on her own.
  8. Hanging out on the deck.
  9. Attacking daddy's hat.
  10. Laces out!
  11. Our only attempt at a decent family pic. And that's what we got. Fail.
  12. Morning walk. I loved taking a walk with her at 6 a.m.! (I love sleeping more but whatever).
  13. Beach babes.
  14. She loved a taste of mom's salted caramel nut ice cream.
  15. Vikings bib -- it was her first gift from the in-laws when she was revealed to the fam last April when I was 15 weeks pregnant. How I went that long without telling any family is beyond me...

Friday iPhone dump

1. Alison was super pissed when she found out we got her a flip phone... Oops. I guess we're behind on our baby technology and did not know a flip phone is no longer cool. Not only that, but they were before her time so she didn't even know she had to flip it open to use it. Poor first world baby.
2. She loves her some cucumbers!
3. Now this is funny. Our daycare provider gave me some of her daughters' old clothes. Packed in zip lock bags with the brand and size written on the bag and a photo of the outfit inside the bag. That is some crazy style organization!
4. She loves her some corn on the cob!
5. We had a fun night alone while Daddy was working late.
6. Until she tried to yank my hair out.
7. New frozen yogurt place = wow, so amazing! I never knew!
8. Laughing cow blue cheese, buffalo wing sauce dip I blogged about earlier this week. SO good!

Friday's letters

Photobucket
It TRULY is my favorite day of the week now! FRIDAY! FRIDAY!

Dear vacation, I love you SO SO much! Please be good to me over this long weekend. Nice weather and nicer in laws. :)

Dear anyone who has ever been on House Hunters International,  How or why do you have so much extra disposable income? Color me jealous but I want a vacation home in the Caribbean, too! I know you don't use it year-round so you should let me come stay when you're not using it. Please be sure there's some bottled water in the fridge and I take my coffee with cream and real sugar. Thanks!

Dear Oprah radio, I love you but you should know that makeover shows don't translate very well via radio. Also, what is up with all of this master class, soul searching mumbo jumbo? It is all very holier-than-thou in my opinion! Now the old show you played this week about Tanya Harding and Lorena Bobbit was smashing! I am so glad I was in my car at 7 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to hear it THREE times!

Dear entire high school boys football team, I am sorry that we were both working out on the same track/field at the same time on Thursday night. I'm so glad I'm too old to be embarrassed!

Dear payday, Thank you for showing up again as you do every-other-week. However, why do I never have any money even though you claim to deposit a large sum into my account? Please start depositing more of this money, increase your frequency or stop some of those automatic bill pay thingys that are arranged against my will.

Dear "famous" people on Instagram, What are you famous for??? I do not understand!

So What! Wednesday

Here are my So What! Wednesdays for this steamy mid-July week!
  • It has been SO hot here that I am literally soaking in sweat when I get in my car (black car + black leather = no bueno) at the end of the workday!
  • Whenever someone looks at my LinkedIn profile, I come up with all kinds of reasons WHY: they must be looking for a job and want to see my resume to copy it, they want a job at my company and want to ask me about it, they want to recruit me, etc. I need to chillax with all my LinkedIn presumptions.
  • Ali is chewing on a shoe right now (never worn) and I am just letting her because it's allowing me to type this.
  •  I am finding it SO incredibly impossible to stick to my My Fitness Pal calorie allocation (1200 whopping calories). And I am so frustrated that I have been eating the best I can and working out consistently for 4+ weeks now and still haven't lost any weight.
  • I flipping hate when someone's blog comments have a captcha on them. I can never read what they say and refresh the letters a few times. If I still can't see what they are, sorry sister or brother, you ain't getting my comment today. However, I recently checked my settings and saw that I had a captcha set up! Must be Blogger's default setting. Oops. That's some Vicki Gunlavson hypocrite status.

Recent obsessions - Healthy food edition

Trader Joe's Cilantro and Jalapeno Hummus: I didn't know if I would be a big fan of hummus or not but this stuff is SO SO SO good! I love that it's super spicy and there's a little circle of cilantro and extra jalapeno in the middle for even more spice. While I would love to eat it with pita chips, I've been cutting up small cucumbers from the farmers market for dipping.

There are 80 calories per 2 tablespoons. Which sounds like a lot but a little goes along way because it's so flavorful.

Grilled beets: There's a weekly farmers market at my office during the summers so I've been picking up bundles of beets to grill. I peel and slice them then put them in foil with a little bit of olive oil and kosher salt. Grill for about 20 minutes and move them around a bit while cooking so the ones on the bottom don't get stuck to the foil. I could eat them plain but I've also been putting them on a bed of arugula (or any salad mix) with a bit of goat cheese or Gorgonzola crumbles -- both from Trader Joe's. Here's a picture of our dinner last night -- this is Brad's plate, not mine! He had 2 pork chops and a bake potato with his. Mom stuck with just one small pork chop, beet salad, grilled zucchini and corn off the cob.

Laughing cow cheese + Frank's wing sauce: I've always been a fan of laughing cow cheese but lately I've been mixing 2-3 wedges of the blue cheese variety with some Frank's wing sauce. I microwave it for maybe 20 seconds and then mix in shredded chicken and/or chopped celery. You can eat it like that or I also like to use celery or carrots for dipping. Sometimes I top it with crumbled blue cheese and microwave to melt it in a little bit. It is heavenly! And for only 35 calories per wedge, a damn good snack!

Social Sunday

Sunday Social

Well, I am badly in need of a tropical vacation so I love this week's Social Sunday questions!

Best trip you've ever been on? I don't know how I choose just ONE but I guess I would have to say when we went to Acapulco for about 10 days 2 months before our wedding. I would say it was our pre-honeymoon but we were there with the in-laws so I don't think that qualifies!

We spent the first few days at a hotel right on the ocean. I LOVED falling asleep to the sound of the crashing waves! Then we spent a week at the timeshare report that my in-laws own timeshare in. The resorts are absolutely beautiful! Here was the view from our room:
On one of the first days there we met a family from New York and became fast friends with them! We played beer bong in their room every night. No idea how we weren't kicked out for being so loud. And who plays beer pong in an immaculate living room with marble floors, etc.
We had an amazing lobster dinner and even went out to a club for "ladies night" (every night is ladies night). It was a great way to de-stress BEFORE the wedding!

Oh and yes, every night I make us take pictures on the patio! I do this on ALL vacations. Mostly for me to remember my outfit! :)

Best idea for a girls weekend trip? I would probably vote for somewhere in wine country or a relaxing spa resort in CA! I would say Vegas but the smell of smoke gives me the worst headache ever so I will probably NEVER go to Vegas!

Best idea for a couples trip? Well, anywhere tropical fits the bill for me! We had so much fun going to an all-inclusive in Cabo with 2 other couples.

Best vacation on the cheap? We are spoiled with the fact that my in-law have timeshare just about everywhere! If we go on our own vacation, I love being able to find a deal on Groupon or other discount websites... For our trip to Cabo, we stayed at a place that was just opening after a huge renovation so it was really cheap!

Place you most want to visit: I want to go to Bora Bora after seeing it on RHOC! Hahaha! But then I looked it up and the flight was SO long. So, I will say Hawaii or the Virgin Islands! Yes please!

Vacation necessities: I'm not the person to ask about this! I bring anything and everything on vacation. We ALWAYS have to move stuff out of my bag to make the 50 pound limit. Haha! And if I am lucky, I get extra room in Brad's suitcase and if his family is with us, I take up about half of his little brother's bag, too. I just can't help it...

Friday iPhone Dump

1. This lil' girl likes string cheese! Our cat likes string cheese, too, so things have the potential to become quite contentious!
2. and 3. Loving a little wagon ride and hanging out with our friends/neighbors dog!
4. Another Friday happy hour of make/build your own bloody mary!
5. A little pic from the 4th of Jooly. Good thing it was like 100+ degrees and we were only outside to take a few pictures!
6. Further evidence of the build your own bloody mary. Also, I notice in ALL of my drink pictures that you can see Brad's hands typing away on his phone!
7. Ali got YET another ear infection this week. That's at least 4-5 in the past several months. It is just brutal!
8. Another pic from the 4th of July. I didn't get her a special outfit but I thought navy + white was good enough!

Friday's letters

Photobucket
It's time for another edition of Friday's letters! TGIF!

Dear DUMB ass mofos who leave their children in the car when it's triple digits hot out, Well, I'm writing you a letter but I don't even know what to say to you. I hope you get your karma and you are the reason I believe people should need some kind of licensure to reproduce.

Dear everyone on Facebook, I know you ALL went to the Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw concert at Target Field on Sunday. I have now seen every single photo ever taken during the concert. I also know that you all watched that Cookie Monster "Call me Maybe" cover. Yes, it was funny and cute. And I also know that all of you recently completed some kind of Tough Mudder, Mud Run, etc. race. This I truly do not understand. Running around in the mud and possibly getting electrocuted by live wires? Gee, be sure to send me the Facebook event invite for the next one...

Dear Alexis Bellino, I actually kind of feel bad for you because you seem like such a sad and insecure woman. It was very enlightening to hear how you treat the crew of the show that pays for your Escalade, "Beemer" and SL550, rented home, etc. And also the folks at the greatest department store around, Nordstrom. When you speak you just run yourself in circles and I want to SHAKE you! I would say that I hope you're off the show but let's face it, I love watching you in action. Especially those Emmy-award winning cat fashion show "news" reports.

Dear Heather DuBrow, Thank you for being so hilarious and intelligent! It is a rare combination and I pretty much love everything that comes out of your mouth. You should have your own show!

Tips from my trainer

Here are a few diet and exercise tips that I've learned from my trainer. I will share more as we go and some of my favorite rabbit food healthy recipes, too!
  • Cut the crap. One of her first recommendations after seeing my food diary, was to cut the artificial sweeteners, diet soda, etc. I had heard that in the past never really understood why. Okay, so I don't exactly remember the reasoning -- something about the way your body takes so much extra effort to process the junk -- and she said I would be better off putting full fat creamer in my coffee and drinking a regular soda, if necessary. I've basically cut out all diet soda and only had a regular soda once. The calories are just not worth it to me! And I've started using full fat creamer and real sugar instead of fat free or sugar free french vanilla creamer. This sounds like the opposite of effective but I do like the thought of not putting so much fake, artificial sweeteners, etc. into my body.
  • Workout when and how you can. I used to think that in order to get a good workout, I needed to carve out an hour of time, have an entire outfit ready, etc. I also thought I couldn't work out after work or I wouldn't be able to fall asleep at night. Now I realize I can do push ups and v-sits/planks during commercials in my pajamas, swimsuit, etc. I can do stair runs and even hop on the elliptical in our house for a short time. It doesn't have to be this big, planned out ordeal. I know I just used all those reasons as an excuse to do nothing. Now I see that something is always better than nothing! I've also realized that I can workout from 7-8 p.m. and be snoozing by 10 p.m.!
  • Eat more fruit! I actually eat pretty clean most of the time and already get a very good intake of fruit and vegetables. But I've heard that fruit has a lot of sugar in it so it's actually not that good for you. She said that eating fruit would help kick start my metabolism. Now I try to combine fruit with a lot of things I would already eat. I have a banana in the morning and then a Greek yogurt at work around 10 a.m.. I eat berries, watermelon, etc. and string cheese as a snack in the afternoon. I also eat frozen grapes as my after-dinner snack. I still have my red wine, sometimes chocolate, etc. but I do feel a lot better with more fresh produce in my diet.
  • Know what works for you. I've been a member of a few different gyms depending on where we were living/working at the time and always absolutely hated everything about going. I would drag myself there at peak time, have to park super far away (ironic that I couldn't stand a far walk to get inside the gym), not be able to find an empty locker, no machines would be open, etc. I also really hated trying to dress in front of others and seeing other people's strange unique locker room habits. Yes, I am the girl who would go in the changing room to change. Now I can see how much I can tolerate enjoy working out outside. Even if it's 90+ degrees out, it still beats the sweat-filled gym! So, the lesson here is to know what works for you -- the gym, classes, working out at your home, outside, etc. I have also learned that running long distances is probably not for me but sprints and interval workouts are great because I love the variety and it helps the time go by quicker.
Watch out Carrie Underwood's legs! I'm comin' for you!

What I'm loving Wednesday

This week I am linking up for my first What I'm loving Wednesday! (I'm such a follower, I know).

SUMMER Fridays (bitches)! My department is... ahem... "piloting a program" this summer that allows us to leave at noon on Fridays so long as we've worked extra hours during the week. I've never had a job that actually had an official "program" and what not but I'll take full advantage. It also means that if we're off on a Friday, we only need to take 4 hours of vacation. I am loving it!

This sweet merlot from Trader Joe's is OH so good! I think it's 5.99 a bottle and you can't beat that with a stick! We've probably bought 30 bottles so far! Don't you judge us.

Okay, so I'm not exactly loving the fact that the love o' my life was arrested this past weekend for resisting arrest and whatever else. But... I am still loving him. And his cuteness. We've actually talked a bit via Twitter and so everyone was asking me to ask him what happened. Hahaa... Yes, because I am so sure he would tell some random sexy nice lady in Minnesota!

So What! Wednesday

Tis' my favorite time of the week (if you don't count Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays). Time to link up for So What! Wednesday!

  • Earlier this week about 2,000 people at my company had their iPhones, iPads, etc. remote wiped. I feel bad for them but people are **threat level midnight** freaking out. Most are complaining about lost photos or videos of their kids. I can't help but wonder why you would use your work phone/tablet for all that stuff but I guess a lot of people do it. I do, too, but I always dump everything onto my personal laptop. Gotta back this stuff up people!
  • I truly can't decide if I love or hate Greek yogurt. Sometimes I feel like I'm shoveling scoops of nasty plain sour cream down my gullet and other times I feel like I'm eating creamy delicious clouds from heaven. It's very strange.
  •  I swear I would rather go to work wearing a belted potato sack than iron. I've been shopping online at The Limited lately and every top has a huge crease in it. I never realize until I go to put it on in the morning and it's too late. I just pretend like its not even there. At least I'll be mistaken for a well dressed homeless lady...
  •  I have no idea why but lately I prefer to wear a $3 Forever 21 ring instead of my wedding ring. The silver is all brown and disgusting. I'm no Alexis Bellino so I think it's because my ring gets tight on some of my water weight bloat less than stellar days. And I'm totally in denial of getting it permanently re-sized after the babe!
  • I'm linking up with So What! Wednesday and What I'm Loving Wednesday in the same week. Is this very bad blogger etiquette? I found What I'm Loving Wednesday and then forgot that So What! Wednesday is on the same day! #bloggerproblems

Weekend Update

We had a very boring and uneventful weekend - but oh well - I still felt like linking up to do a Weekend Update!

My in-laws were coming to visit us for the weekend. So, Friday we were both off work around 1 p.m. so we met for lunch SANS baby and had some (okay, just one) of these. There is nothing better than a make/choose your own bloody mary bar. And the more food that's a part of it, the better! I don't even need an appetizer!
Saturday we ended up at dinner and I (for some strange reason) needed to imbibe in TWO of these. (I always include the sippy cup in the photo so you know I might be a drunk mom but at least my child is hydrated)
I don't enjoy the taste of piss beer so I offered my beer chaser to Ali.
She was none too thrilled.

By Sunday morning I was ready to tear out my own hair have a nice relaxing day at home after the in-laws hit the road. But our friends/neighbors invited us over for a BBQ so we busted out the wine and joined them. We ate some steak, too.

I bought these lovely hydrangeas on Friday after work and by Sunday morning they were completely wilted and sad - much like my weekend. Hahaha. Cheers to the next one!

Social Sunday

Sunday Social

I find it funny that my latest post was all about reality TV! So, I am linking up for this week's Social Sunday.

Favorite TV show of the past
I have to go with Sex and the City. Although I don't really like watching it on TV because they cut out a lot of funny parts but I still can't help myself most of the time! I NEVER get sick of it. Friends is definitely a way close second, too! And old episodes of 90210 when they are in high school. I can't stand when they are in "college" and Donna has red hair, etc. I just hate those episodes. Oh and Saved by the Bell is up there on my list, too!!! What a great show!

Favorite TV show currently
I LOVE the Real Housewives of OC and also Beverly Hills (I give OC the slight edge right now). I also love Bethenny Ever After and Giuliana and Bill. Other than that, I tivo some other stuff like Tia & Tamera and Sister Wives but I don't go crazy trying to stay caught up.

Which reality show would you never do?
Hmmm... the smaller list might be a reality show that I would do! I definitely would NOT do anything like Survivor or anything that entails eating bugs, etc.! NO thanks!

Which reality show would you love to do?
Well, I think I would love to be a Beverly Hills housewife! So, I guess if being on the show would be a part of the deal, then sign me up!

TV personality/character that you feel is most like you? I would say I'm a little like Tamra from RHOC because I am very sarcastic and really don't care what people think of me.

TV character you'd want to date? Well, he's not really a "character" but I do love Bill Rancic! I also like Dr. Robert Leeds aka Blair Underwood on SATC!

7.07.2012

There is a reality show for EVERYTHING!

I've been saying this for a while now, especially every time I hit "guide" on our remote to see what's on the old picture box. There is literally a reality show for every effing thing!

You name it. Shows about crab fishing, shark hunting, swamp people (I don't even want to know), rednecks, hillbillies, gypsies, rich people, nannies, Persians, men from Boston who still live with their parents, teen moms, Kardashians, people who eat weird things, people who do weird things, people who hoard things, people who have addictions, are obese, have weird moms, are looking for a lost loved one, have a cat from hell, need a dog whisperer, need someone to decorate their home, sell their home, renovate their home, flip a home, buy a home, rent a home, have a weird home, have a nice home, own a pawn shop, own a storage unit company, auction off other people's garbage, people who work at an airport, a club, tattoo shop, can sing, can't sing, think they can sing... Literally, think of something and there is a reality show for it.

The other night a show called D.U.I caught my attention. Really? A show that follows people who are getting DUIs?! Who agrees to be on that show?? And they sign a waiver and agree to be taped for a reality show at what point when they are getting arrested? How can they consent while drunk?

It's no wonder I end up stuck watching an entire day of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. It's like being the best of the worst. I long for the days of old episodes of The Real World (when they actually had real jobs and real fights), or Temptation Island, Average Joe, Joe Millionaire and that awesome show with the actor who pretended to be a total loser and had to convince that teacher to marry him -- My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance! Loved that one! I just wish the RHOC or RHBH filmed 24/7 year-round so we could all enjoy awesome, authentic, unscripted reality TV all the time.

Friday's letters

Photobucket

Dear Direct TV signal, Eff you, honestly! You go out every single time it rains even just a little bit! I can't wait until our contract is up. Then you're fired. It's really a shame that we're too cheap to cough up some dough and get out of our contract early ala Katie/Kate Holmes! Dear manager on my team, Thanks for telling me to be sure to take advantage of today's summer hours since my boss and boss' boss are on vacation and weren't there to tell me to do so. Pretty sure I was leaving at noon regardless but I do appreciate the sentiment. Dear Target worker, Is it really a rule that once something leaves the building, it can't be brought back in if someone leaves it in a cart? CC Jennifer to please confirm or deny this claim. My lovely and honest husband lugged in a case of water someone left on the bottom of their cart in the parking lot. You told him that once something leaves the building, you can't take it back for someone to come back and get it once they realize they forgot it. And also, thanks for repeatedly telling lovely husband that 'this conversation never happened' and that he could take the water or it would be thrown away. Score one $4 package of water for the Meyers! Dear food, wine and other alcoholic beverages, Why must you be so tasty and encourage me to eat or drink you when I am desperately trying to lose this baby weight? Dear Aubrey O'Day, Remind me again of why I decided to follow you on Instagram? In all honesty, you seem like kind of a whoooree. But I can't bring myself to unfollow you. Train wreck. Dear people on this, my inaugural, Friday's letters link up, WOW there are a lot of you! I really want to try to check out all of your blogs but I cannot guarantee this will happen. Which leads me to... Dear in-laws, Sorry we did not come to your house for our nice, relaxing long weekend like we did in our pre-baby years. It turns out that traveling with an infant isn't really that nice or relaxing. But thanks for telling us that you're now coming to stay with us this weekend to make up for our absence. We truly cannot get enough of your advice and constructive criticism of our parenting skills! And now we really won't have time to sit around and blog surf. XOXO April

Friday iFun dump - Stay Cation Edition

  1. We had our own little stay cation from Friday through the Fourth of July! It began with fun times at the pool. It's right across the street from us. So awesome!
  2. Went to happy hour with a friend who moved to Florida a while back. It was STUPID hot on the rooftop so we ended up having one drink, splitting a sushi roll and going inside. But then I was like -- wait a second, she lives in Florida now, isn't every day like this?
  3. Last Tuesday we took Alison to the doctor and found out she had hand, foot and mouth disease. Whatever that is. When I came home from work on Thursday, the kids at daycare had mailed us these little Get Well Soon cards. They were SO cute! I love the one from her actual daycare provider friend that says I love you and I miss you!
  4. Melancholy baby in the highchair.
  5. Alison was on the upswing so we still went on our planned date night on Friday. Had a great dinner and went to see the movie Ted. It was actually very funny.
  6. Trouble now pulls herself up on everything she can find!
  7. Eating her Get Well Soon cards.
  8. Bucket head.
  9. Couch potato.
  10. Little miss now knows how to wave!
  11. Having fun in her rocking chair.
  12. Had our BFFs over for a BBQ on Saturday night. Alison loves her daddy's tablet!
  13. Kisses at the pool.
  14. She's been taking 45 minute morning naps and loves to sit up and chat with herself! Somebody shoot me.

Airbrushed Abs

I was feeling inspired by my friend Courtney's diet/workout post so I snapped a few pictures of my stomach or 1 pack before heading to another 90 degree boot camp workout. I do not know if there's an Instagram filter to make my 1 pack ever see the light of day - Hahaha!

But then I thought of Mariah Carey's airbrushed abs. They pop into my mind from time to time and give me a good laugh. I seriously can't believe people didn't laugh more about this like I did. Does she really think we believe that she has a teeny-tiny perfectly symmetrical 6 pack? What is happening?! Or maybe I'm just jealous and need to find me a good airbrush ab artist in the Twin Cities... Any recommendations?

T'was a crime scene

I started a new job a few months ago and I always love figuring out the real meaning of random corporate jargon. I've learned that if a meeting doesn't go very well it is referred to as a "crime scene."

Also, if you want someone to stop by your office/desk/cube/place of business, you ask them to "drive by." I'm beginning to wonder if I work with former gang members with all the crime scenes and drive bys.

Anyways! I started working out with a trainer 4 weeks ago. No, not anything fancy. I found her on that website where you knowingly and willingly meet up with strangers and they murder you. She's a high school track coach who is looking to build up her own personal training business. Which equates to some dirt-cheap private personal training for mommy!

She is awesome! We do one-hour workouts 2x a week - one time we do sprints on the track mixed in with other workouts and one time a week is straight up boot camp. I brought Brad with me to a boot camp session and he almost tossed his bacon double cheeseburger and tuscan fries cookies. (That's literally what he ate before the workout. Genius!)

She also sends me my own daily workouts and stalks my My Fitness Pal food diary and makes recommendations. I haven't lost any real weight yet (I carry around about 3 lbs. of water weight) but I feel great and know that I'm putting on muscle right now.

It's been 90+ degrees out for the past week so my last few sessions have been... CRIME SCENES for sheesy.

So What! Wednesday

I am linking up with my friend Shannon at Life After I Dew for So What! Wednesday!
  • So what it's the Fourth of July! Bring on the late night fireworks, neighbor! (insert sarcasm)
  • On that note, my neighbors set off fireworks every.other.day around 10 p.m. I may or may not have called the cops on Friday night and may or may not have gone over and screamed my head off at them around 10:30 p.m. Alison was super sick and needed sleep. Wake my baby? I will go HAM on your ass. These are huge illegal fireworks, too. They sound like bombs!
  • I thought Warren Buffet was Jimmy Buffet until earlier this week when I asked my husband his top 5 people he would choose to have lunch with (I didn't make the cut). Anyways, I thought Jimmy Buffet got super rich off his music and restaurants. I thought he invested it well and that's why so many people look to him for financial advice. WOWzers.
  • I think I like the BabyFirst channel more than Alison and I get the stupid songs in my head for days at a time. We've had the channel for like a year but didn't have it showing up in our guide so we just found it! My favorites are Mio Mao, Juno Baby, Petey the Paintbrush, Hide and Seek, Harry the Bunny and I am sure there are many more. I despise the creepy Tick Tock mice or whatever they are called and Bonnie Bear. Yes, I need a life.
  • I need a vacation BAD and keep looking at trips and deals on Orbitz even thought I know there is no way we're booking anything.
  • My car lease is up in a few months and I have NO idea what kind of car I want. I actually want to become a one-car family and save that $$$ but there's no way it's possible with our work schedules, commutes, etc.
  • I spill EVERYTHING! Yesterday I spilled nail polish topcoat on my laptop and the couch. Oops. This morning I went to throw away a box of old candles from our wedding (4 years ago!) and the glass votives broke all over my row of shoes that sits in our entry way. Perfect!

I'm baaackk!

And this Blogger thing is totally different. Annoying. I can't ever seem to keep up with blogging and find it overwhelming when I think about trying to keep things up-to-date. So, for now I am just going to keep up as much as I can!

Alison is now almost 9 months old. She crawls, pulls herself up on things and walks when you hold her hands. She also has chronic ear infections and is currently recovering from hand, foot and mouth disease. FUN times! We've been enjoying a little stay-cation over the Fourth of July. Here are a few pics of Ali from the past few months! Hopefully I can get back in the swing of this blogging thing so I can look back on all of our fun and no-so-fun times...
