I've been saying this for a while now, especially every time I hit "guide" on our remote to see what's on the old picture box. There is literally a reality show for every effing thing!
You name it. Shows about crab fishing, shark hunting, swamp people (I don't even want to know), rednecks, hillbillies, gypsies, rich people, nannies, Persians, men from Boston who still live with their parents, teen moms, Kardashians, people who eat weird things, people who do weird things, people who hoard things, people who have addictions, are obese, have weird moms, are looking for a lost loved one, have a cat from hell, need a dog whisperer, need someone to decorate their home, sell their home, renovate their home, flip a home, buy a home, rent a home, have a weird home, have a nice home, own a pawn shop, own a storage unit company, auction off other people's garbage, people who work at an airport, a club, tattoo shop, can sing, can't sing, think they can sing... Literally, think of something and there is a reality show for it.
The other night a show called D.U.I caught my attention. Really? A show that follows people who are getting DUIs?! Who agrees to be on that show?? And they sign a waiver and agree to be taped for a reality show at what point when they are getting arrested? How can they consent while drunk?
It's no wonder I end up stuck watching an entire day of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. It's like being the best of the worst. I long for the days of old episodes of The Real World (when they actually had real jobs and real fights), or Temptation Island, Average Joe, Joe Millionaire and that awesome show with the actor who pretended to be a total loser and had to convince that teacher to marry him -- My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance! Loved that one! I just wish the RHOC or RHBH filmed 24/7 year-round so we could all enjoy awesome, authentic, unscripted reality TV all the time.
